You are NOT Meant to Work Just to Make Someone Else's Dream Come True...

That quote hit me like a lightning bolt the first time I read it. I wrote it on my whiteboard at home, and now I see it every day. It's a reminder, a challenge, and a quiet truth I can no longer ignore.

For years I have worked in the construction industry. It's steady work, and I have learned a lot - how to juggle schedules, manage customer expectations, and keep things running behind the scenes. But deep down, I've always known: this isn't my dream, I have been helping build someone else's.

And while there is nothing wrong with supporting others, I started to feel the ache of something missing - my own purpose.

The Turning Point

That quote didn't just resonate - it stirred something in me. It reminded me that I have dreams too. That I am allowed to want more than just a paycheck. I'm allowed to build something that reflects me. That's when Beauty for the Homebound began to take shape.

A Dream that Feels Like Home

Beauty for the Homebound just isn't a business idea - it's a calling. It was born from my own experience trying to find beauty professionals who would come to the home of a loved one. I was shocked at how limited the options were. Something as simple as a haircut or a little pampering became a logistical challenge.

That experience opened my eyes to a gap - and an opportunity to serve with heart.

The work is about more than just beauty. It's about:

  • Restoring dignity to those who may feel forgotten

  • Creating connections in spaces that can feel isolating

  • Bringing joy to those that deserve light and love

Living My Own Dream

I went back to school at 38 to study human services because I wanted to make a difference. Now, I'm finally stepping into work that reflects my values, my compassion and my creativity.

I still have that quote on my whiteboard. It reminds me every day that I am not here to support someone else's vision - I'm here to build my own.

And if you ever felt that same tug in your heart, I hope this reminds you: you're allowed to dream too.
