Why I Do This: A Caregiver's Heart Behind Beauty for the Homebound

Updated: Mar 6

I recently walked away from a job that was just that—a job. There were no bonuses, constant stress, and very little sense that it was doing any real good in the world. While it paid the bills, it never fed my soul. It also didn’t give me the time I needed to care for my dad properly. I had to bring him to his cancer treatments, oncologist appointments, PET scans, specialist appointments, and GP appointments. I had to be his advocate.

My True Calling

At my core, I am a human service worker. I always have been. Being an office manager for a fence company was never where my heart lived. Eventually, I had to listen to that truth.

I know I post often. I also know it sometimes feels like my words are met with silence—especially from hair stylists and nail technicians. Maybe some wonder if what I'm building is a scam.

It's not.

So, I want to share a little about me and why I do this.

A Caregiver's Journey

I'm a single mom of adult children, and now, in this season of my life, I've taken on another role—caregiver to my elderly father. Over the years, I’ve rubbed pennies together, hoping the heat or friction would make them multiply (it didn’t work, by the way). I’ve relied on food stamps and Medicaid. I’ve gone without more times than I can count so my three children could have what they needed.

I know what it feels like to live in survival mode.

And that's exactly why I want more from my business—more than what a typical business aims for.

Supporting Service Providers

I want to help service providers earn a living wage. They shouldn’t have to constantly worry about how they’ll pay for rent, afford groceries, or keep the lights on. In today's economy, it's getting so difficult.

I want to ease the stress that caregivers carry every single day—because I’m living it right now. When you’re the only one doing everything, even one less errand or one less worry can feel like a gift. The question of “How am I going to get my loved one out of the house?” is heavy, and it’s often invisible to the outside world.

The Emotional Toll

I want to put a genuine smile on someone’s face who feels unseen. I saw the emotional toll it took on my father when I had to take the keys away. He lost his independence. It was more than an inconvenience; it was a loss of dignity.

I want to help people earn a little extra income to lessen their worries, even if just a bit.

My yearning is simple, but it’s deeply rooted.

To make this world better—one color, one haircut, one manicure, or pedicure at a time. One home visit can help three people at once!

Understanding the Value

Most people won’t fully understand the value of services like these until they find themselves in the shoes of a caregiver. Until life changes in a way you never expected.

If that’s you—or if you’re just curious—I invite you to reach out.

Don’t be afraid to call. There is no obligation to join. No pressure to use our services.

I would simply love to have a conversation.

Why Compassion Matters

Compassion is at the heart of what we do. It’s not just about beauty treatments; it’s about connection. When we provide services in the comfort of someone’s home, we’re offering more than just a haircut or a manicure. We’re offering a moment of joy, a chance to feel valued, and an opportunity to connect with someone who understands.

Building a Community

I believe in building a community where everyone feels supported. Caregivers need a network. They need to know they’re not alone in their journey. That’s why I’m committed to creating a space where beauty professionals can thrive while providing essential services to those who need them most.

The Importance of In-Home Services

In-home beauty services are vital for many reasons. They allow individuals who may have mobility issues or health concerns to enjoy beauty treatments without the stress of travel. This convenience can make a significant difference in their quality of life.

Imagine the joy of a fresh haircut or a beautifully polished manicure, all from the comfort of home. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about feeling good. It’s about dignity and self-worth.
